An ATM is located outside the Congress Centre to the left of the main entrance.


Access to the congress will only be possible with your personal badge, which you will be able to print in the entrance area. Please wear your badge at all times! If you forget your badge, we can reprint it for a deposit of CHF 30. The deposit will be returned once you show that you still have both badges, of which we will keep one. If you lost your badge or do not show both badges anymore, CHF 30 will be charged.


A cloakroom is available on the ground floor during the registration helpdesk’s opening hours and can be used free of charge. Please note that the cloakroom is unguarded. On Thursday, 12 September your luggage can be stored during the secretariat opening hours. Cloakroom staff will be available.

Coffee & lunch

A lunch will be served in exhibition foyer on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Coffee and tea is available in the foyer during the exhibition hours.

Please note: If you are only registered as a MipTec or JobFair Visitor no lunch is included.

The City of Basel

Basel is an inspiration: located at the Swiss–German–French border, it is a welcoming, active, and enterprising city of open-minded citizens, who excel in business and the arts. Thanks to its manageable size and excellent public transport, it is quick and easy to get around the city.

Conference Venue – Congress Center Basel (CCB)

BASEL LIFE will take place at the Congress Center Basel which is one of the most modern congress centers in Switzerland. Equipped with the latest technology, it provides an excellent atmosphere for conferences and exhibitions. The Congress Center is located directly alongside Messe Basel in the heart of the city. The historic Old Town, the shopping areas and the many museums and parks can be reached comfortably by foot or by public transport.

All official prices are indicated in Swiss Francs (CHF), which is the official currency of Switzerland. All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shops.


The electrical current in Switzerland is 230 Volts AC, 50 Hz (continental European standard). Sockets take the standard, round-pinned European plugs. There is limited compatibility with other continental European plugs: the standard continental hexagonal plugs with two round pins (Euroconnectors, pin distance 19 mm [3/4 inch], pin diameter 4.0 mm [1/6 inch]) found on many electrical travel products may be used without any problems. Please do not forget to bring an adapter since German, French, and Austrian plugs with thick pins (diameter 4.8 mm [1/5 inch]) as well as Italian plugs with three thin pins in a row are not compatible with Swiss wall outlets, despite the equal distance of the two main pins on German, French, and Austrian plugs.

Industry exhibition

The MipTec exhibition, with companies presenting state-of-the-art technology and solutions, is located in the foyer on the 2nd floor of the Congress Center Basel.

The congress organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage of property belonging to congress participants, either during, or as a result of the meeting. Please check the coverage of your own insurance.

Meeting Room

Meeting Room Mexico can be rented onsite for approx. 20 persons. Please contact the Registration Helpdesk to enquire about availability.


The congress language is English. No simultaneous translation is provided.
The official language of Basel is Swiss German. French and English are widely spoken.

The poster exhibition is located in room San Francisco on the 3rd floor of the Congress Center Basel.

Authors are kindly asked to be present at their posters during the poster session and the times shown above. All authors are required to mount and remove their posters at the above mentioned times.


Basel offers both a wide range of international restaurants (Italian, Chinese, Japanese, French, etc.) and typical Swiss cuisine.

People usually have lunch between 12:00 and 14:00 and dinner between 18:00 and 20:00.

Speakers’ Service Centre (SSC)

There are two Speakers’ Service Centres (SSC) to guarantee quick access for all speakers.

The SSC is located in room Hong Kong on the 2nd floor of the Congress Center Basel.

All speakers are kindly requested to hand in their PowerPoint presentations at the SSC at least 1 hour before the start of the session.

Time Zone

In winter Central European Time (CET) applies in Switzerland, in summer period, summer time applies (CET + 1).


Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the Congress Centre.
